Description
Chocolate Nº4 is the fourth edition of the most distinctive white from Bodegas Orben, the boutique project of Artevino Family Wineries (Izadi, Vetus, Villacreces) in Rioja Alavesa. Behind the name, there is no cocoa or sweetness: there is a serious white, from old plots in the glass between Villabuena and Laguardia, designed to show how far Rioja's native white varieties can go.
It is a CVC (blend of several vintages) wine: it combines the 2022, 2023, and 2024 vintages and blends Viura and Malvasia (30%), White Grenache (35%), and White Maturana (35%). Each batch ferments and is aged in a different vessel—concrete egg and 225 and 500-liter barrels—which adds freshness, texture, and depth to a single glass.
The result is a broad and rich white, with ripe stone fruit, a toasted touch, and an acidity that keeps it lively and long. A limited edition of just 5,620 bottles that hits the market every two years and is distributed through allocations. Ideal for drinking now or aging for several years.
