Big John chose the location precisely because of the abundant source of spring water and the connection to the Great Highland Railway. Thanks to Big John, Cragganmore was the first Speyside distillery to take advantage of rail transport to bring in raw materials and produce its delicious single malt.

In 1869, Big John Smith, considered the most experienced distiller of his time, founded Cragganmore. He spearheaded the construction of a railway and, leveraging this, his business acumen, and his skill as a distiller, transformed Cragganmore into a popular producer of high-quality single malt whisky.

Cragganmore takes its name, meaning "rock," from the mountain in whose shadow its distillery sits. And this is a whisky with multiple nuances and flavor profiles. Known as the most aromatically complex in Speyside, it must also be one of the most delicious, as the distillery struggles to keep up with demand.
