Description

Finca La Emperatriz Blanco Reserva 2019 is one of the great white jewels of the DOCa Rioja, made by Viñedos Hermanos Hernáiz with 100% Viura grapes from vines between 50 and 65 years old classified as Vineyard Singular, the highest category of the DO Rioja.

The vineyard is located at 570 meters of altitude in Baños de Rioja, on sandy loam soils with a surface layer of 40 centimeters of white pebbles that provides excellent drainage and natural elegance to the wines. The harvest is carried out manually and the clusters pass through a rigorous selection table before beginning a 6-hour maceration with their skins.

The winemaking is precise and delicate: fermentation takes place in equal parts in concrete tanks and French oak barrels of 225 and 500 liters, with indigenous yeasts. Subsequently, the wine spends 4 months on fine lees with widely spaced batonnages, followed by 8 months in French oak barrels for first, second and third use, and 9 additional months in concrete tanks, to finish with a rest in the bottle. An extraordinarily patient production process that results in a white wine with a magnificent evolution.

Lemony yellow in color with golden sparkles. On the nose, clean and complex, with balsamic notes of laurel and chamomile, citrus, jasmine, fennel and a subtle touch of macadamia nuts. In the mouth it is soft, fresh and creamy, with perfectly integrated acidity, salinity in the finish and a long and tasty persistence. A wine with aging potential until 2032.

Recognised with 95 Tim Atkin points and 94 Parker points. Ideal for rock fish, seafood, creamy rice, foie and soft cheeses. Serve between 9 and 12°C.
