Appearance

Purple red with a medium-high layer with an intense pinkish edge.

Nose

Great intensity where the spicy aromas of black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla stand out, surrounding fine notes of red berries.

Palate

Pleasant structure, balanced acidity and delicate, enveloping tannins. With a broad aftertaste, its round and elegant finish stands out.

Description

Viña Ardanza Reserva 2017 includes 80% Tempranillo from vines over 30 years old from the La Cuesta and Montecillo estates, located in Fuenmayor and Cenicero. And 20% Garnacha from the La Pedriza estate in Tudelilla (Rioja Oriental), with very poor soil covered with boulders that offers a Garnacha very rich in aromas and fine structure.

The 2017 vintage was marked by the historic frost of April 28, which affected some of the winery's vineyards, but not those located in Cenicero (Tempranillo) and Tudelilla (Garnacha). Although the amount of Viña Ardanza Reserva produced was less than usual, the ripening was perfect, allowing the design of a red wine with great freshness and aging capacity due to the strong polyphenolic load.

From the Haro Station District, La Rioja Alta, SA has been a symbol of high quality and one of the creators of Rioja classicism for over a century. Its catalogue includes some of the most successful Riojas, such as Viña Ardanza or Gran Reserva 904. Wines faithful to a traditional style, pleasant, smooth and elegant. Unaffected by the vagaries of fashion, La Rioja Alta, SA has only needed a few subtle updates to remain at the top as the standard-bearer of the best classicism.
