Since our beginnings we have been characterized by revolutionizing some of the traditional methods in the area, introducing improvements in both the vineyard and winemaking. One of the most notable systems is to separate the Tempranillo bunches into two parts. The shoulders, with a perfect phenolic ripening, are used for the wines with more aging and aging potential, the Remírez de Ganuza Reserva and Gran Reserva, while the tips are intended for the young carbonic maceration wine, the Erre Punto.
The winery has 80 hectares of its own vineyard. These are 70 farms formed from more than 200 plots in 9 municipalities in the foothills of Sierra Cantabria: Labastida, San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Ávalos, Samaniego, Leza, Elciego, Navaridas, Laguardia and Elvillar.

Everything in Remírez de Ganuza matters: the harvest, which is done manually in 12 kilo boxes; the meticulous selection of grapes; respect for it in production processes; hygiene measures that border on obsession, and long aging in new, mostly French oak barrels. No bottle of Remírez de Ganuza goes on the market without having rested for a long time in the winery. We believe that only time allows the wine to develop the characteristics and style that we seek as producers.
To know Remírez de Ganuza is to understand the present of La Rioja Alavesa, a look at the tradition and the future of the creation of wines in the area.
